The short answer

Capital One's Summer 2027 Business Analyst Intern and Analyst Early Internship Program postings are both live.12 Capital One posts by cohort rather than to one global deadline, so there is no single date.5 AIP targets penultimate year students, AEIP targets sophomores and pays $89,000 annualized.4 Neither offers visa sponsorship of any kind.1

Capital One's Summer 2027 analyst internship postings have closed. The firm runs two parallel programs, the Analyst Intern Program for penultimate year students and the Analyst Early Internship Program for sophomores, and posts by cohort rather than to one global deadline.5 Watch the careers site for the next cycle.

Applying to the wrong program is the common mistake

Capital One runs two ten week analyst internships that share a brand and a length but not an eligibility window.5 AEIP requires sophomore standing for the 2026 to 2027 academic year; AIP is the penultimate year route.2 Confirm the live graduation year band on the posting before you rewrite a resume.

Two programs, two class years, both live now

Capital One runs parallel analyst internships for different year groups, and applying to the wrong one is the most common mistake here.12

ProgramWho it is forDatesLocation
Analyst Intern Program (AIP) Penultimate year undergrads and masters students Ten weeks, June to August 2027 Continental US, assigned location, hybrid
Analyst Early Internship Program (AEIP) Sophomore standing in the 2026 to 2027 academic year Ten weeks, June to August 2027 McLean, Virginia, in person

AEIP is the sophomore route. It requires sophomore undergraduate standing for the 2026 to 2027 academic year and a bachelor's completion date of August 2030 or earlier.2 It is based in McLean with corporate housing provided, pays $89,000 annualized, and is described as a springboard into the full Analyst Internship Program and the Analyst Development Program.34

AIP is the standard junior-year internship, and interns are evaluated for a full-time position within Capital One's rotational programs, with start dates six months to one year after the internship ends.1

Early and standard listings share a brand and a ten week length. They do not share the same eligibility window or the same peer set.

Capital One posts by cohort rather than to one global deadline, so do not assume a single date applies across tracks.5 Check the live graduation year bands on each posting before you write anything.5

The six month Powerday rule

This one catches repeat applicants. If you have previously interviewed for the Business Analyst role through either AIP or ADP, Capital One asks you to wait a minimum of six months from your last Powerday date before applying again.1

Powerday is Capital One's final round. If yours was recent, check the date before submitting, because an application inside that window is not a second chance.

No visa sponsorship, in any form

Capital One states it will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization or offer any immigration related support for these positions, listing H1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN, E-3 and O-1, or any other work authorization requiring employer immigration support.12

That is one of the most comprehensive exclusions in this whole set, matching Bridgespan. Resolve it before you invest time.

All majors, genuinely

Capital One welcomes applications from students of all demographics and academic disciplines.2 Relevant fields named on the AEIP posting include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Communications, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics and Computer Science.4

Note Communications sitting in that list alongside Statistics. This is a broader door than most analytically demanding programs, and the emphasis is on what you can do with data rather than what your transcript says.

Data-first, not framework-first

The case here is a business problem with a dataset attached

Capital One interns frame a business challenge, analyze data using tools like SQL, and present a strategic recommendation to stakeholders. The structuring and synthesis skills a case builds are exactly what the final presentation tests, even though the format is analytical rather than conversational. What the internship actually involves

AEIP participants complete a specialized analytics project that involves framing a business challenge and presenting a strategic recommendation, working as an active member of an analyst team and using analytics software to understand how business decisions affect profitability.4

Capital One describes learning to transform complex data into actionable insights that directly influence real business decisions, with hands-on experience in tools like SQL.3 Past intern projects have included developing transparent card rewards, designing enhanced security features and optimizing marketing campaigns.3

Both programs require in-person attendance at your assigned location under Capital One's hybrid working model.12

What to do this week

  1. Identify your program by class year. Sophomore standing means AEIP. Penultimate year means AIP.
  2. Check the graduation year band on the live posting rather than assuming last cycle's applies.
  3. Confirm work authorization first. No sponsorship of any kind, including CPT and OPT.
  4. Check your Powerday date if you have interviewed before. Six month minimum gap.
  5. Build a data project you can talk about. The internship is framed around analytics and presentation, so evidence of that work matters more than framework recall.
