The two-speed calendar, and why it catches people out

This is the single most important thing to understand about Deloitte recruiting, and it is the reason so many students apply to the wrong thing.

Deloitte runs two separate recruiting clocks. Audit and tax recruit roughly 22 months before the internship starts. Consulting, advisory and government and public services run closer to a year out.1 For an accounting major that means you are applying in your sophomore fall. For a consulting applicant it means you are applying in your junior year, like everywhere else.

The concrete example makes it clearer. Deloitte opened summer 2027 audit and tax internship applications on August 18, 2025, roughly 22 months before those interns would start.1 Applications for summer 2028 audit and tax are expected to open August to September 2026, which is now.1

Applying to the wrong track does not just waste an application. At a firm where seats are allocated per office, it can put you in a pool you were never a fit for.

Rolling in practice, even without a stated policy

Deloitte has not published an official rolling review policy. But 2027 cycle applicants reported receiving rejections within three days of the window opening, and recruiting guides advise treating any listed deadline as a final cutoff rather than a target.1 Seats fill per office as applications arrive.1

Management Consulted describes the Big 4 approach the same way: firms select candidates to interview as applications are received rather than waiting until after a set date, so applying as soon as you are ready is the advantage.4

Three days from open to rejection is the number worth sitting with. It tells you that whatever date appears on the posting, the real competition happens in week one.

Office choice is a strategic decision here

Because seats are allocated per office rather than nationally, your office selection materially changes your odds.1 Defaulting to the largest city is the most common mistake, and it puts you in the deepest applicant pool.

The application itself asks for your resume plus office and service line selection, so this is a decision you make at submission rather than later.1 Think about it before you open the form.

GPA thresholds Deloitte actually posted

Deloitte states requirements on the postings themselves, which makes them unusually checkable. For the 2027 cycle, audit, tax and Discovery postings required a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above with 3.2 or higher preferred, while the Consulting Summer Scholar posting asked for a 3.3 minimum.1

A 3.0 clears the screen for most tracks. What moves a borderline file forward is campus leadership, community service and applying early.1 Note the consulting track sits a step higher at 3.3, which is worth knowing before you spend a slot on it.

The process, stage by stage

Most US intern tracks run four stages.1

1. Find the posting early. Search apply.deloitte.com or go through your campus career center. Deloitte recruits through university career fairs in parallel with the portal.
2. Online application. Resume plus office and service line selection.
3. Screen. Timing varies by office and volume.
4. Interviews. For consulting, a case interview and a behavioral round, often on the same day in a Super Day format.5

One thing to watch: member firms are separate

Deloitte's member firms run their own processes, and a deadline from Deloitte US does not apply to a UK or other national application.6 Country, business line and program all determine eligibility, dates and assessment stages, and vacancies may close early when application volume is high.6

A role labeled Consulting also differs from Monitor Deloitte, Strategy, Risk Advisory or Technology.6 Read the role profile rather than assuming the label means what it means elsewhere.

1. Work out which clock you are on. Audit and tax, or consulting and advisory. This determines everything else.
2. Search apply.deloitte.com for your target start year rather than relying on any published calendar, including this one.
3. Choose your office deliberately. Seats are per office and the largest cities are the deepest pools.
4. Submit in week one of the window. Rejections have gone out within three days of opening.
5. Have cases ready if you are on the consulting track. The interview can follow within weeks.
