Deloitte pay is two questions, not one. The level ladder matters, but so does which practice you join: Monitor Deloitte, the strategy arm, pays roughly 15 percent above core Deloitte Consulting at every rung, and the gap between the best and worst paying practices at entry runs to $40,000 or more. A US Analyst starts near $102,000 all in. Use both selectors below to get to your actual number.
Deloitte is a roughly 450,000-person firm, so there is no single salary band. Practice is the variable most candidates ignore and it moves the number more than office does.
Deloitte employs around 450,000 people across audit, tax, risk and consulting, so a single Deloitte salary figure is close to meaningless. Four things decide what lands in your offer letter, and the first one is the variable most candidates never think to ask about.
Monitor Deloitte pays roughly 10 to 20 percent above core Deloitte Consulting at every level. Inside core, the spread between practices is wider still: Strategy and Analytics roles versus Government and Public Services roles differ by $40,000 to $50,000 in total first-year compensation, one of the largest practice gaps at any Big 4 firm. Two people can accept a Deloitte Consulting offer on the same day, in the same city, at the same level, and be $40,000 apart. If you are optimising for pay, the practice you target matters as much as the firm.
Deloitte runs six rungs: Analyst, Consultant, Senior Consultant, Manager, Senior Manager, then Managing Director or Partner. The trap is that some practices bring MBA hires in at Consultant while strategy practices bring them in a level higher at Senior Consultant. Same firm, same words, materially different pay. Get the level confirmed in writing, not the title.
US pay transparency laws force Deloitte to post a pay range on job listings, and those ranges are the closest thing to a primary source on this page. They are also enormous, because a single posting spans multiple offices and experience profiles:
Use these as boundaries, not estimates. A range that wide tells you the floor and ceiling for the title across the whole country; it does not tell you what your office will offer you. The figures in the explorer above sit inside these bands deliberately.
Through Senior Consultant, compensation is mostly base plus a modest bonus. From Manager upward, profit sharing and equity-linked pay add $10,000 to $44,000 on top of the cash bonus, and by Managing Director more than half of total compensation is variable. That is why senior Deloitte figures scatter so widely in reported data: you are seeing different equity vintages, not different salaries.
Core Deloitte Consulting total compensation at undergraduate entry and at Manager, in local currency. Add roughly 15 percent for Monitor Deloitte at every level.
| Office | Analyst | Manager | Monitor Manager | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $102,000 | $240,000 | $276,000 | Reported |
| Singapore | S$108,000 | S$252,000 | S$290,000 | Indexed |
| Australia | A$97,500 | A$228,000 | A$262,000 | Indexed |
| Canada | C$87,000 | C$204,000 | C$235,000 | Indexed |
| UAE | $82,000 | $192,000 | $221,000 | Indexed |
| Germany | €80,000 | €187,000 | €215,000 | Indexed |
| United Kingdom | £46,000 | £108,000 | £124,000 | Partly reported |
| India | ₹1,271,000 | ₹2,976,000 | ₹3,422,000 | Partly reported |
The India row is better evidenced than its Indicative-looking size suggests: our Consultant figure of roughly 15.5 lakh sits inside the 15 to 16.6 lakh range widely reported for Deloitte India Consultants, which is a useful independent check. The UK row is the one to treat with most caution, because Deloitte UK graduate pay varies significantly between London and the regional offices in Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
Post-MBA entry, US, total first-year compensation. This is the comparison that decides most Big 4 versus MBB choices.
| Firm and practice | Post-MBA title | Total, year one | Gap to McKinsey |
|---|---|---|---|
| McKinsey | Associate | $262,000 | Reference |
| Monitor Deloitte | Senior Consultant | $253,000 | 3% below |
| Deloitte Consulting | Senior Consultant | $220,000 | 16% below |
Monitor Deloitte is close to MBB parity post-MBA. Core Deloitte Consulting is not. The commonly repeated line that Deloitte pays 10 to 15 percent below MBB is true of core consulting and misleading about Monitor. Where MBB pulls ahead decisively is the slope above this level, since the MBB partner track compresses into fewer, steeper steps while Deloitte spreads six rungs over 12 or more years. See the McKinsey, BCG and Bain salary pages for those ladders in detail.
Deloitte recruits on a rolling basis at enormous volume, so timing matters more here than at firms with a single cycle deadline.
Deloitte is the best documented firm on our salary pages, because its size produces large sample sizes and US law requires it to publish pay ranges. That does not make the figures precise, since the published ranges are deliberately wide.
One figure we have deliberately not used as a headline: one industry source puts average Principal total compensation above $2.5M. That is plausible for long-tenured equity partners in strong years and badly misleading as an expectation for anyone reading this page, so it sits in the Managing Director note rather than in the summary at the top.
A US undergraduate Analyst earns roughly $85,000 base, plus a performance bonus of $5,000 to $15,000 and a signing bonus of $5,000 to $10,000, for total first-year compensation near $102,000. The band runs from about $83,000 to $110,000, and where you land inside it depends mostly on practice: Strategy and Analytics sits at the top, Government and Public Services closer to $80,000 to $85,000 on base.
Monitor Deloitte is the firm's strategy practice; core Deloitte Consulting covers Technology, Human Capital, Operations and Government and Public Services. Monitor pays roughly 10 to 20 percent more at every level, so a Monitor Senior Consultant base sits near $192,000 against about $170,000 at core. Monitor also runs a harder, more structured case interview. Post-MBA, Monitor is within a few percent of MBB total compensation while core Deloitte is around 16 percent below.
Six: Analyst, Consultant, Senior Consultant, Manager, Senior Manager, then Managing Director or Partner. Promotions come every one to two years early on and slow considerably above Manager, with Managing Director typically reached in 11 to 18 years. Be careful with titles across practices, because some hire MBAs at Consultant and others at Senior Consultant for the same experience level.
Core Deloitte Consulting pays roughly 10 to 15 percent below MBB at most levels, and about 16 percent below at post-MBA entry on our figures. Monitor Deloitte is much closer, within a few percent of an MBB post-MBA package. The larger difference is the slope rather than the starting point: MBB compresses fewer, steeper steps into the partner track, while Deloitte spreads six rungs across 12 or more years.
Because a single job posting covers many offices, practices and experience profiles at once, and US pay transparency law requires the range to span all of them. A posted range of $155,600 to $306,800 for a Manager is a legal disclosure of the floor and ceiling for that title nationally, not a prediction of your offer. Treat published ranges as boundaries and use level, practice and office to narrow inside them.
There is more room than at MBB, because Deloitte hires at far greater volume across many practices and does not run a single cohort-wide band. Campus offers are the most standardised. Experienced hires have real leverage, particularly over the level they enter at and over signing bonus. Knowing the published range for your title gives you a factual anchor that candidates at most firms do not have.
Our estimate is around $750,000 total in the US, with a plausible range of $450,000 to over $1,500,000. Managing Director is a senior non-equity or limited-equity role while Partner and Principal carry full equity, and more than half of total pay is variable. Reported Principal base averages near $464,000, and one source puts average Principal total compensation above $2.5M, which reflects long-tenured equity holders rather than a newly promoted Partner.
Yes, unlike McKinsey, which runs one national band. Deloitte's published ranges span multiple metros precisely because pay varies by location, with the major coastal markets at the higher end. The practical effect is smaller than the practice effect: moving from Government and Public Services to Strategy and Analytics will change your offer more than moving between two US cities at the same level.
