PwC pays at the top of the Big 4 core consulting tier alongside Deloitte, and core PwC Consulting is the track most candidates join. A core US Associate starts near $97,000 all in. The strategy arm, Strategy&, carries the widest premium of any Big 4 strategy practice at 15 to 40 percent. PwC also publishes pay ranges on US job postings, which makes these figures better bounded than most. The explorer below opens on core PwC Consulting.
PwC and Strategy& run the same six-rung ladder but on different pay scales. This page opens on core PwC Consulting. Switch the practice selector to price the same rung inside Strategy&.
PwC pays at the top of the Big 4 core consulting tier, and the generalist track this page opens on is where most candidates land. Four things decide your offer, and the largest of them is which of the two PwC practices you join.
Strategy& pays 15 to 40 percent above core PwC Consulting, the widest band of any Big 4 strategy arm, and the gap is largest at Manager level. Big 4 Manager total compensation runs from about $180,000 at KPMG core to over $320,000 at top-tier Strategy&. If you are targeting Big 4 strategy work, Manager is the level where the choice of arm pays for itself most decisively. Strategy& also edges out EY-Parthenon on base at Manager and Partner, though EY-Parthenon's variable structure can close the gap in strong years.
Core entry base is $85,000 at both PwC and EY, and at analyst and associate level the difference between the two firms' general advisory practices is 5 percent or less. If you hold offers from both at the same level, take the higher one. There is no prestige or trajectory argument that outweighs a few thousand dollars at this stage. The meaningful differences between PwC and EY appear in the strategy arms and at senior levels, not at entry.
US pay transparency laws require PwC to post a pay range on job listings. Those ranges are the closest thing to a primary source on this page, and they are enormous, because one posting spans several metros and experience profiles at once. Treat published ranges as boundaries, not estimates. They tell you the national floor and ceiling for a title; level, practice and office narrow it from there.
Post-MBA Senior Associate and Senior Consultant totals span $130,000 at KPMG core to over $250,000 at Strategy&, which is nearly a doubling across four firms at nominally the same career stage. Strategy& sits at the top of that range and is the closest Big 4 package to an MBB post-MBA offer, at roughly 5 percent below McKinsey on our figures. This is the single most consequential Big 4 choice an MBA candidate makes.
Core PwC Consulting total compensation at undergraduate entry and Manager, in local currency. Add roughly 32 percent for Strategy&.
| Office | Associate | Manager | Strategy& Manager | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $97,000 | $225,000 | $297,000 | Published ranges |
| Singapore | S$102,000 | S$236,000 | S$312,000 | Indexed |

| India | ₹1,067,000 | ₹2,475,000 | ₹3,267,000 | Partly reported |
The US row is the best evidenced because PwC's own posted ranges bound it. The Indexed rows are modelled from the US ladder rather than sourced office by office. The UK row blends London with the regional offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh, which differ substantially.
Post-MBA entry, US, total compensation. Core consulting and strategy arm shown separately, because they are different jobs on different scales.
| Firm and practice | Post-MBA total | Tier | Gap to MBB |
|---|---|---|---|
| McKinsey (MBB) | $262,000 | MBB | Reference |
| Strategy& (PwC) | $250,000 | Big 4 strategy | 5% below |
| Monitor Deloitte | $253,000 | Big 4 strategy | 3% below |
| EY-Parthenon | $212,000 | Big 4 strategy | 19% below |
| PwC Consulting | $170,000 | Big 4 core | 35% below |
Strategy& is the closest Big 4 package to MBB at post-MBA entry. The Big 4 pay order in 2026 runs Monitor Deloitte, Strategy& and EY-Parthenon together at the strategy tier, then Deloitte and PwC ahead of EY and KPMG at the core tier. Core Big 4 consulting pays 10 to 25 percent below MBB; the strategy arms close that to 5 to 15 percent below. The honest caveat is that Strategy& and Monitor Deloitte are within noise of each other, and a single performance rating will move your total by more than the gap between them. Where the arms genuinely diverge is Manager, where the Strategy& premium peaks. See the Deloitte, EY and McKinsey pages.
PwC runs multi-round interviews combining case and behavioural questions. Core PwC runs lighter, more conversational cases than the strategy arm does.
PwC is required to publish pay ranges on US job postings, which makes its US figures better bounded than most consulting firms. The ranges are wide, so bounded is not the same as precise.
A caution on the premium: sources put the Strategy& uplift anywhere from 15 to 40 percent, and it genuinely varies by level, peaking at Manager. We apply a flat 32 percent, which is a deliberate simplification. At Associate level the real gap is narrower and at Manager it is wider.
A core PwC Consulting Associate in the US earns roughly $85,000 base plus a modest bonus and signing bonus, for total first-year compensation near $97,000. Inside Strategy& the equivalent base is around $100,000, taking year one nearer $128,000. PwC sits alongside Deloitte at the top of the Big 4 core consulting tier.
Strategy& is PwC's strategy practice, formed from the acquisition of Booz & Company. It pays 15 to 40 percent above core PwC Consulting, the widest premium of any Big 4 strategy arm, with the gap largest at Manager. It also runs cases closest to MBB style of any PwC interview. Core PwC Consulting covers Technology, Operations, Cloud and Digital, Deals and Risk.
At analyst and associate level the difference is 5 percent or less, and core entry base is $85,000 at both. If you hold offers from both at the same level, take the higher one. At Manager and Partner levels Strategy& edges out EY-Parthenon on base, though EY-Parthenon's variable bonus structure can close the gap in strong years.
Associate, Senior Associate, Manager, Senior Manager, Director, then Partner. Senior Associate is the main post-MBA entry point. Director is a senior non-equity rung between Senior Manager and Partner, and Partner admission is a multi-year process assessed on sold work rather than delivery.
Because a single job posting covers many metros, practices and experience profiles at once, and US pay transparency law requires the range to span all of them. Treat published ranges as legal disclosures of the national floor and ceiling for a title, not as predictions of your offer, then narrow using level, practice and office.
At post-MBA entry Strategy& lands within about 5 percent of McKinsey on our figures, making it the closest Big 4 package to MBB. The gap widens above Manager, because MBB partner tracks compress into fewer, steeper steps with substantial profit sharing while Big 4 senior pay is more heavily weighted to base and bonus.
